Dr. Daniel Meadows teaches New Media and Photography here in the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies at Cardiff University. In 2001 he took Digital Storytelling to the BBC where, until March this year when he returned to full-time academic life, he was creative director of the award-winning "Capture Wales".
He has travelled widely lecturing on Particpatory Media and has been described by the American comentator J.D. Lasica as "an icon of the Digital Storytelling movement". In September he was one of 46 people in 23 sessions at 11 different venues across the country who talked about their work at the BBC's Storytelling Festival.
As a photographer Daniel was a prime mover in the new documentary photography movement of 1970s Britain and his work has been exhibited widely. His Free Photographic Omnibus (1973-5) was a study to which he returned in the 1990s, photographing again many of the people who first posed for his camera more than a quarter of a century before; see his book "The Bus" (Harvill, London, 2001).
